To clarify: the goal is to have a source document that we can use to
generate print books and ebooks and so on, so that then any changes
proposed to that source document can be presented as colorized diffs
(because computers are good at that sort of thing) for people to
review.

is my current state.

It needs significant review, but it's definitely reached the "not
terrible" stage of things.  More to the point, the toolchain has
been ironed out such that any computer geek could pretty easily
build it themselves from source, and the main skills required to
maintain it are XML and CSS.

My plan, unless people really want me to try something else (see my
other mail on this topic) is to print that at Lightning Source, even
though it's not complete, just to make sure that it looks good on
paper, and then do all the tweaking that's still needed.
