This wasn't the web server being down, this was the *entire site*, including email, which is a much more significant emergency. Like I said, you can detect that sort of thing by a bunch of people falling off IRC at the same time (me in particular, Tene, others). You can also detect it by going to http://users.digitalkingdom.org/ ; if both that and http://www.lojban.org/ are down at the same time, you should totally page me. You should also feel free to page me for extended lojban.org outages when you can't find anyone else, with the proviso that in the middle of the night I may ignore it and go back to sleep.
