Apparently. I would love activity of the mailing lists to be as vibrant as they once were, I miss those times (though I wasn't there; the dictionary of obscure sorrows calls this "anemoia"). On the other hand there weren't really any speakers then, nobody was chatting in real-time, let alone having regular voice chats. So the present day has more to offer all things considered. Mailing lists just aren't as popular anymore, for better or worse. > The meeting has suffered as a result. I owe people an apology for my > own failings in this. Mind you, this kind of lethargy is something I've had to deal with for years as well, and now as BPFK chair. But I don't want to seem ungrateful for the work that BPFK has done in the last year. The lojban community is mostly made up of people with a vague interest in the language, people who would likely never see Lojban as more than a hobby. This can be hard to deal with for people like myself, who put their everything into the language, who live and breathe Lojban, who hold it as dear as a family member, or a loved one. Sometimes it hurts to realize how indifferent so many people are to it. > There were earlier motions, I think from Craig and guskant, that I don't > think were even seconded. I think we might want to revisit guskant's proposal regarding the management of the "official" social network accounts that carry the name "lojban.org" or similar. Right now gleki owns most or all of them and I can't say he's always doing the best job at making Lojban or its institution look good. Someone with a better sense of public relations should be given exclusive access to, e.g., the twitter account. (People like mukti) > At any rate, I am not all that sure where we are. I do not think we should adjourn just yet, but if nobody gets back into the discussion, then it will be pointless to keep the meeting going, of course. > New motions are also allowed (perhaps some sort of official commendation > on Robin's achievement is worth considering). This might be a good moment to share again with everybody a pun I came up with that is very much pertinent to Robin's, camgusmis', achievement: "If camgusmis ever finishes his work on the CLL, we will have to call him xamgusmis." ~~~mi'e la selpa'i _______________________________________________ Llg-members mailing list Llg-members@lojban.org http://mail.lojban.org/mailman/listinfo/llg-members
