bu is supposed to take a word and convert it into a symbol.  Thus abu 
doesn't itself anaphorically reference anything.  It is simply the lerfu 
"a". However, when used in a sentence, it could mean anything the lerfu 
a could mean, which in many languages includes use as a variable, and 
therefore could be an anaphoric reference.  JCB frequently used lefru as 
anaphora in his English and Loglan usage, and we preserved this in Lojban.
