I've been only learning lojban for some weeks now, but I think I know the
answer to your problem.

cu means that a selbri follows, which is not the case here. ku should do
here, it is the match for the le (see
http://ptolemy.tlg.uci.edu/~opoudjis/lojbanbrochure/lessons/less6.html#less6terminators
