As far as I know there are quite some people who can speak lojban on a very 
rudimentary level (probably the A0 you mentioned earlier). If necessary it's 
of course possible to switch to english for a bit to be able to continue the 
talk.

I've never met anyone who speaks lojban (and hardly anyone who even knew what 
it is before I told them), but there are many people in the lojban community 
(primarily the IRC part of it) who I no longen consider complete strangers.

As explained at (a) that's not necessarily a problem. A rudimentary level of 
spoken Lojban can be achieved on your own, after which there is (limited) 
possibility to speak to others.

Yes :( Timezones will always be evil.
