Luke Bergen .fy. cusku zoi skamyxatra. > > .i ma verclibau do? > > what does verclibau mean? .skamyxatra I think it means "native language" or "first language" (literally, "child-learn-language"). > And wouldn't it be ".i xu ma verclibau do" as opposed to ".i ma verclibau > do?" ? No. "{ma}" serves as an interogative on its own. Adding "{xu}" would add an additional question about the truth of the sentence, making it translate as "Is it true that what is your native language?" If you're confused by the question mark in the Lojban, that's just there for the benefit of natural language speakers and has no formal meaning. A completely Lojbanic alternative would be "{pau}." As to your original question, no, I don't have that problem, but then again I never have reason to speak Lojban out loud. Are you sure that you're pronouncing 'j' correctly, i.e., as the 's' in "measure" or "vision"? mu'omi'e .kamymecraijun. -- lonu ca rere'u finti le xislu cu ba sidju do lonu baza finti le vi'e xislu
