Parley is part of the KDE Education Project, it's a fl= ashcard program built specifically to showcase different styles of foreign-= language learning. Its free and only built for linux as far as I'm awar= e.

CSV (a .csv file) is literally just a text file with "comma separa= ted values." Excel and OpenOffice can export and import as .csv, and i= t's really easy to transfer a plain text file (such as a list of gismu!= ) into csv format for quick creation and manipulation of "decks" = of flashcards.

re: Quizlet -- I tried quizlet a whi= le back (and again after reading this email) and my connection is consisten= tly reset (as it was last time I tried), which probably means it's very= good, since China's censoring it! I'll fire up my proxy sometime a= nd check it out.

The one thing that would make one of these services killer for me is im= port and export of plain old CSV files. That's why I like jMemorize, wh= ereas things like Parley have flexibility but need pesky xml markup. Is Qui= zlet good for this?

What are CSV and Parley.=A0 I'm Category 2, remember?<= div class=3D"im">

The other reasons I like
smart.fm are I think the study s= essions are very well-executed containing automatic mp3 playback, and the p= rompts to type the answers work great with ascii lojban.

Yes, it looks good, but it's not ready yet.=A0 In the = meantime....

I guess my point of mentioning flashc= ards in the first place was to say that I don't think it makes sense to= design the website to include flashcards when there's free alternative= s that are already hosted, maintained and developed elsewhere, and that wou= ld also give lojban more opportunities for mainstream exposure at the same = time.

You're right of course!=A0 But the beginner website should re= fer to them, and provide some information that will let the beginner choose= the one best for him/her.
