Here's the basic site components I proposed the other day, for a site related to, but separate from the current lojban wiki: 1) Lesson directory - Add the new wave lessons to the current list of beginner resources, but also tag sections by topic so that they are easier to reference and (optional) users' progress could be guessed at, for lesson recommendations. 2) Forums & Sentence Submission - Make conversations like what goes on on this mailing list more visible and more useful to beginners. "Sentence submission" would just be a way to encourage learners making sentence creation (or the format could be used like a textbook exercise) 3) Detailed dictionary with Comments - Make a page with detailed information (from the various text files available on lojban.org) and allow comments to have a central, in depth reference for beginners to see common questions, examples of usage etc. 4) Links to flashcards - The site would not attempt to provide a flashcard feature. But we could have a deck directory and links to decks on other sites like quizlet, smart.fm, etc. 5) Advanced study materials Readings & more for advanced learners. The only non-trivial feature is structured lesson content, which would require cataloging of all the current and in-development lessons, but that could be 'rolled out' later, the static file versions could be put in their place. I've worked with Joomla and Drupal, and using either of those CMSs could pound this site out in one weekend of hacking... so one week * 10 = 2.5 months by the Kolin Corollary, which sounds pretty accurate =) Who should I be talking to at lojban.org to ask about hosting? mu'o mi'e .ku'us. I volunteer! Here's the basic site components I propos= ed the other day, for a site related to, but separate from the current lojb= an wiki:

1) Lesson directory -
=A0=A0=A0 Add the new wave lesson= s to the current list of beginner resources, but also tag sections by topic= so that they are easier to reference and (optional) users' progress co= uld be guessed at, for lesson recommendations.

2) Forums & Sentence Submission -
=A0=A0=A0 Make conversations = like what goes on on this mailing list more visible and more useful to begi= nners. "Sentence submission" would just be a way to encourage lea= rners making sentence creation (or the format could be used like a textbook= exercise)

3) Detailed dictionary with Comments -
=A0=A0=A0 Make a page with d= etailed information (from the various text files available on lojban.org) and allow comments to have a central, in d= epth reference for beginners to see common questions, examples of usage etc= .

4) Links to flashcards -
=A0=A0=A0 The site would not attempt to pr= ovide a flashcard feature. But we could have a deck directory and links to = decks on other sites like quizlet, smart.fm= , etc.

5) Advanced study materials
=A0=A0=A0 Readings & more for advanc= ed learners.

The only non-trivial feature is structured lesson conte= nt, which would require cataloging of all the current and in-development le= ssons, but that could be 'rolled out' later, the static file versio= ns could be put in their place.

I've worked with Joomla and Drupal, and using either of those CMSs = could pound this site out in one weekend of hacking... so one week * 10 =3D= 2.5 months by the Kolin Corollary, which sounds pretty accurate =3D)
Who should I be talking to at lojban.org = to ask about hosting?

Possibly, although the way you say that it sounds like you disagree,<= br> but don't want to prolong what you see as an argument. =A0I certainly hope you *don't* feel that way, because I believe you have a lot to
offer, and I believe that without some sort of effort like this the
language to which I've given quite a lot of time to on and off over
the last 15 years really will just limp along and eventually die.

I want to see your ideas, I want to see what you think beginners
should be given, I want to see how *you* think and react and will
use facilities.

I want to see how this can be made to work. =A0It's just that I also know how much work is involved, and I want to find a practical and
effective way to make it happen.

In some ways I hope this is the beginning of the next phase. I can't make it happen, but maybe you can.

mi'e kolin.
