For example, the soft "c" in Spanish has rather different pronunciations in Spain and Latin America, wit= h Spain using a sound similar to a soft "th" and Latin America using a sound more like English's soft c (this is from my HS Spanish classes; the actual situation is probably more complicated than this). Which is preferred?
