You're not being too picky; {pe'i} it is good to be picky and precise in
lojban.  As far as I can tell, {mi cilre fi la lojban} is a subtly different
statement than {mi tadni la lojban}, the former of which might be true even
if you're putting no effort into the process, and the latter even if you're
making no progress.

If you want somewhere to talk (well, communicate) with people in lojban,
I've found the IRC channel to be a great resource in that respect.
