It is just a selbri. You can use it anywhere you can use a brivla; it just = happens to be morphologically a cmavo. The meaning of "du" could = have been given to a gismu instead; it was just decided that this word shou= ld be especially short.

Grammatically, {du} is in selma'o GOhA; the other members of GOhA are t= he selbri-position special words like {mo} and {go'i}.
