It might help to consider some bridi that use them in an ordinary way. Let's take for example "si'o", the idea abstractor. It has two places, the x1 is the idea, and the x2 is who thinks it. What's inside is what the idea is about. So let's make it that the sky is blue: "si'o lo tsani cu blanu kei". Now that we've got that selbri, we can use it normally. The x1 is the idea that the sky is blue, and the x2 is someone who thinks the sky is blue. These are all the same: .i si'o lo tsani cu blanu kei fa lo sidbo fe lo te sidbo .i lo sidbo cu si'o lo tsani cu blanu kei lo te sidbo .i lo te sidbo cu se si'o lo tsani cu blanu kei lo sidbo .i lo sidbo lo te sidbo cu si'o lo tsani cu blanu [kei] .i lo te sidbo lo sidbo cu se si'o lo tsani cu blanu [kei] Or I could say for instance "si'o lo tsani cu blanu kei mi", that puts "mi" in the x2 so it says "I have an idea that the sky is blue". Let's take another example, Alice had a good idea that we should go to the market: .i si'o ma'a klama lo zarci kei fa lo xamgu fe la .alis. .i lo xamgu cu si'o ma'a klama lo zarci kei la .alis. .i la .alis. se si'o ma'a klama lo zarci kei lo xamgu .i lo xamgu la .alis. si'o ma'a klama lo zarci [kei] .i la .alis. lo xamgu cu se si'o ma'a klama lo zarci [kei] Here's a common Lojbanic saying that's an example of a straightforward bridi using "li'i" (I think maybe it was la xalbo who thought of it?): "lo melbi ko li'i cerni", have a beautiful morning. The two places of "li'i" are x1 is the experience of the embedded bridi, and x2 is the experiencer who experiences it. So "lo melbi" is the experience, and "ko" is the experiencer, so it tells you to have an experience that's beautiful. mi'e la stela selckiku mu'o -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Lojban Beginners" group.
