I'm sure it would quite easy to make QD able to extend it's di= ctionary database with very little coding - and if it were reprogrammed for= that it would actually surpass GD, as its dictionary format is plain text,= whereas GD requires specialized formats. (i.e. QD > GD in ease of use o= f creating/editing dictionaries.)

I've never used any of those features of GD and don't really c= are about them. I pretty much exclusively use GD's scan popup feature, = except in the very annoying cases where it doesn't work - which is freq= uent.

So the last feature is the= only plus of QuickDict.
I don't mean QuickDict is bad, it's just less easy to use (for the<= br>time being !).
If QuickDict can be expanded to Linux and Mac it would= be wonderful.

Considering that I only use the scan popup feature of GD (when it work= s), and QD seems to be naught but the scan popup, I would rather use QD tha= n GD, especially seeing as, for me,=A0GD is bloated - that is, has many thi= ngs I neither want nor need.

If QD was ported to run natively in Linux and Mac, or better, was port= ed to a non-hardware dependent architecture such as, to use a really bad ex= ample, Java, and if it was also made capable of having it's dictionary = database arbitrarily extended, I would abandon GD in favour of it altogethe= r, especially considering that QD has one all-powerful plus that GD does an= d can not have - It can break apart lujvo.

(And yes, I know that GD has the ability to query websites, and that t= here is a website one can use to break apart and/or form lujvo, but the web= site handling by GD is absolutely atrocious and works even less often than = the scan popup. For me at least, it is actually faster to open my web brows= er, load the webpage, and type the word into the appropriate box, than it i= s to use GD's web functionality to to the same thing with the same page= .)
