They are pretty much the same. You can use "stare" , "rimanere" and "restare" pretty much in the same way. Depending on the context you may mean slightly different things. For example "stare solo" and "rimanere solo" both mean that one is alone but the latter suggests that you had company before or that you might not have been alone. But it's just a suggestion, nothing more and it's so subtle that I wont rely on it for a lojban translation. In case of "tacere" it's even more subtle. You may *prefer* to use "rimase in silenzio" in the context of someone asking and someone not answering but in the context of someone who is just not speaking nor is emitting any sound, "resto' in silenzio", "rimase in silenzio" e "stette in silenzio" are exactly the same (well, I wouldn't use the third one but rather "stette zitto"). Since there's no context here, I would prefer to render it in lojban as "be silent" which is the only "safe" meaning without context.
