Because I've worked quite hard at making my mouth be able to do that. It feels very unnatural to my lazy english tongue to put "e" and "r" back to back like that. It keeps trying to be lazy and turn it into just "runn*er*" Sorry, just going to have to agree to disagree on this one then because I'm never going to speak lojban with those sounds. I'm too big a fan of audiovisual isomorphism to be dropping vowels here and there.
