That is because {2000 ro do} is the same as {re no no no ro do}, which 
is "all 2000 of you", it's one quantified sumti.

To convert a number like {re nonono) (2000) to a sumti, you have to use 
{li} (an article just like {lo}, except it turns numbers into sumti). 
{li re nonono} (or {li 2000}) is "2000" as a sumti.

{mi vecnu lo tabjme bliku ro do li 2000} will parse as you intended it.

Precisely speaking, you're not selling things for "2000" (the 
mathematical value) but for 2000 dollars or whatever the currency is. So 
more correct would be {lo rupnu be li 2000}.
