I take that back, he does use {seisa'a} within quotes, as in {seisa'a
se cusku be le citno}. There are three places where he doesn't, but
not as an escape from a quotation:

.i su'o ri cu sei dei jetnu befi lei mi se morji se'u pu mutce pluka
"Some of them, as far as I can remember, were quite nice."

.i ca le pu kufrydukti je carvi crisa sei se djuno se'u loi stuzi poi ke'a
cu snura ca lei drata nanca cu suksa je nalseljde nalsarji
"It had been that dreadful wet summer, you know, and places that were
safe in other years gave way suddenly without warning."

.i sei ko djuno be la'edei so'uroiku ca lei bifcau je smaji vanci poi ke'a
simsa ti ko'u mi piso'aroi pencauji'i lenu ro ko'a ba dzugre leva canko
"Do you know, sometimes on still, quite evenings like this, I almost
get a creepy feeling that they will all walk in through that window--"

BTW, I have copied "The Open Window" to the wiki, I hope that's not
a problem. It's quite an important text from the point of view of the
history of the language (that's why I decided it was better to keep
the few minor typos I detected):
