As far as I can tell, and correct me if I'm wrong, but shapado.com doesn't support structuring the discourse into issues > positions > arguments, which seems to be the central idea behind the Elephant.

It looks like the only advantage that shapado has over any old mailing list or web forum is that you can vote on posts.
