You don't need any knowledge of Lojban at all, really. It's all just research and documentation- plus a bit of "translation" (as in, translating somewhat jargony stuff into something a normal person would be able to understand).
But if you really think you can't do it, I'm sure Robin knows a myriad other ways you could help, and whenever he has time to read this thread, I'm sure he'll tell you.
