RE: [jboske] putative tense scope effects (was: RE: ConcreteexamplesofLlambanlo'e

What's this about tense sumtcita having "scope over" anything? It affects
the entire bridi, not specific sumti. It should transcend prenex variable
introduction order.

Consider:

roroiku lo nanmu cu cinba la meris
Every time there was some man that kissed Mary.

lo nanmu roroiku cinba la meris
Some man was such that he kissed Mary every time.

Or:

ca ro djedi lo nanmu cu cinba la meris
Every day there was some man who kissed Mary.

lo nanmu ca ro djedi cu cinba la meris
Some man kissed Mary every day.

How do you determine the effects of le and scope?

{le broda} is {ro le broda}. This {ro} has scope over following terms. This means that existentials following {ro} will be distributed (one for each) while existentials preceding {ro} won't (one for all).

Where does the book say that lo broda === da poi broda, that is, that lo
broda should be treated like it introduces a prenex variable? I would like
to hear John Cowan's views on this topic.

I think the Book doesn't make that explicit anywhere.
