I've been thinking about how one might
translate military ranks into lojban.
There are many of them, and I don't think
lujvo are the way to go. Imagine coming up
with lujvo for: Major General, Lieutenant Colonel,
2nd Lieutenant etc etc etc.
One approach, may be to fu'ivla based on rank
codes that NATO uses in order establish
equivalency between the ranks of its different
members (the UIN has nothing like this).
Example:
OF-10 = General of the Army (US) = Field Marshal (UK).
OF-2 = Captain (Canada) = Shang Wei (China)
For a full list, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_officer_ranks
So, my questrion is: Can we use lerfu strings to create fu'ivla?
Examples:
OF-10: jatnrobufypano
OF-2: jatnrobufyre
