Re: [jbovlaste] ruslerci

Which brings us to the usual discussion of "Can a lujvo mean something other than the sum of it's parts?"  e.g can you have "nikyge'u" mean"g1=n1 is an exaggerated creature/character (such as a dog made of nickel) of origin g2" ? (http://jbovlaste.lojban.org/dict/nikyge'u)  There are differing opinions on the matter.  The CLL says, "

The meaning of a lujvo is controlled by --- but is not the same as --- the meaning of the tanru from which the lujvo was constructed" (12.2), which would seem to suggest not, but many say it's perfectly acceptable.

I'd say it's a lujvo meaning "x1 is a barnacle goose."

That is preposterous.  As a lujvo, its place structure would be "x1 (event) is late by standard x2 and gray."  Because events lack color, such a lujvo also would be preposterous.  Neither of the rafsi is even for "gunse" ("goose") or any other word that refers to birds or other organisms.
