So could anyone help with a program that could randomly pop up some vocab (from a limited but increasing set) at random intervals on my Linux desktop?

What a fun idea! I don't have time this week, but maybe I could cobble
something up next week. Do you use a terminal, or a windowing system?

A windowing system. (Most of my programs are GTK+ on X, but I can like with other stuff on X if it's more convenient.) Thanks in advance for your help!
