From what I've read, translating "Tao" and "Te" often leads to confusion due 
to cultural differences and, more importantly, due to the inability to 
directly translate them. This may be why most translations just use 
"Tao" (however they do translate "Te" for whatever reason).

I've seen a translations of the title to "The [Path|Way] to Power" which makes 
little to no sense after reading the book. "The [Path|Way] to Virtue" makes 
more sense, but its meaning is still off. Not to mention the 
Chinese->English->Lojban just reaks of information loss, to me.

{dajrtao}, {dajrdao}, and, in some cases, {taos} would probably make more 
sense. ({dajrte} and {dajrde} for Te, of course.)
