And anyway, if you say {la .al.}, it sounds same as {la 'al.} would, IMO.

:) Not in my native language/dialect.

It bothers me that Lojban doesn't have a true H, except one that
can only interpose two vowels.

I see that names like la xustyn. (Houston) and la xavanas. (Havana)
all start with x, so I guess that is the right way.

As a side note, Lojban's x sounds more like a k to me than it
sounds like an h. My dialect of English doesn't have that x sound.

For example, we tend to Anglicize "Bach" as "Bak," not "Bahh." (In
fact, a terminal h is not really pronounced at all I guess -- it
just lengthens the vowel.)

Maybe even {fultn.} works, if you like it.

That might be OK. I'm very new to this list, do people use {} to
indicate Lojban spellings?

  la 'al.soki'os (HAL 9000)

Maybe if you want it to be a lujvo, it would be even {sozyki'os}. Scans to the Russian pronunciation of "9000". ;)

Too confusing for me. :) I think most of the time I will just be
"la xal."

Thanks....
