Lovely, I loved this one! I've read it in the original english but I 
think it's even funnier in lojban. {tcica stedu} is just an inherently 
funny word. Even funnier would be a lujvo.

The sentence is ungrammatical as it stands and it looks weird with both 
{xu} and {xo} in the same sentence. She isn't really asking how much it 
costs. While a {xu}-variant is possible, you can also do a less literal 
translation where she just scalds him because clown school was 
expensive. Also, in the original english, she's angry because they 
already spent the money, she's not debating whether or not they should 
cough up the money to send him to clown school in the future. How about 
{xu do djuno ledu'u lenu do pu zvati lo xampre ckule cu kargu} or just 
{lenu do pu zvati lo xampre ckule cu kargu}. (Ps - other, wiser 
lojbanists might want to check these since I may well err.) Oh, and add 
at least one attitudinal!

I prefer {fo} to {zo'e} in this sentence but both works. The feel is 
just different - it's a question of how implicit you want to make the 
customer.

I've used {doi .iu} but I don't know how correct that is.
