Well, it's very different from other languages, so if you don't
already have experience learning other languages you have to do both
the regular work involved in learning your second language (which is
hard) plus the work involved in twisting your brain around Lojban,
which is wierd.
On the other hand, Lojban is much simpler than natural languages,
which helps. Many people get to simple conversations in a few
months. The thing is, there's a long, long way between "simple
conversations" and "internal monologue".

Ask again when you're at the simple conversation stage. :-)
