[lojban-beginners] Re: dicussions about basic vocabulary

I recommend either the Windows installer, if on windows, or the one called "version 3" with python if not on Windows. This is based on my trying to run several different versions in the past, and their assorted shortcomings.

If you can run the Windows version, that's really the best version so far. The python and perl programs are actually new programs written to read the same lesson files so that us folk not on Windows can use them too. Yes they're newer, but rather less friendly and a bit less featureful.

I can give you a more detailed comparison if anyone wants.

Yes, but it's a little uncertain what "the current version" is.

For instance, I wrote a fork (in Python) which uses the OCEMP GUI
library and SDL's Vorbis support to work (without RealPlayer or a
console window) on both Windows and Linux; however, it requires a
different (Vorbis-encoded) set of audio files to work, and hasn't been
maintained in quite a while now.

Now, do we point folks at that version, or canuco's more recent
implementation, or the newest one with a Windows installer, or...
