That's true - the ancient riddle of the Sphinx is a concept riddle and
would have more or less the same meaning regardless of language - as
evidenced by the fact that it is still around even though the language
that it was originally written in is long gone. This is in contrast to
the classic English riddle "What's black and white and read all over?"
which depends on the fact that "red" and "read" have the same
pronunciation.
