I am reading through the level0 brochure, and I think I have
gathered enough information to spell my first name (Alan) in
lojban.

Given that cmene cannot have the word "la" in it[1], and reading
over the pronunciation guide[2], I think the closest spelling and
pronunciation in Lojban of "Alan" is "Alyn.".

If you chose to go by the "Dot Side" proposal, {la} is permissable within cmene, so you could be {.alan.}. Also, all words in Lojban are stressed penultimately, i.e., on the second-to-last syllable, unless otherwise indicated, usually by capitalizing the vowel of the syllable that should be stressed.

This accounts for the stress of the first syllable instead of the
last, and sounds about right when I pronounce it: "/AH,luhn/"

How did I do?  Is there a closer approximation?

Thank you!

-Alyn.
