heh, which usage of "that"?  "that apple over there", "I am the man that ate the apple", "that which does not kill me will only make me stronger"....  Also, part of my confusion at first was that I thought that du and du'u were somehow similar or from the same family or something.  Is this true or is it just coincidence that they look similar?

Since I said the translation of "du'u" is 'that', (and not the other way around), only those uses of "that" which make sense in the given context of "du'u" apply.  "That" has three basic meanings: 1 demonstrative adj/pronoun; 2 relative pronoun; 3 conjunction. Only the meaning of conjunction occurs in the same contexts as "du'u".

"That" as a demonstrative is "(LE) va/vu", and as a relative pronoun is "noi/poi/voi".
An example of "that" as a conjunction is "I know that you were late".
