stela, is there a special reason why you say 'lo flira be mi' instead of 'lo mi flira'? personal preference? or is it to didactically clearly show the structure of gismu?

With neon you could say for instance, "le navni cu dirce le gusni be le flira be mi", the neon radiates the light that falls onto my face, or "le nukni cu gusni le flira be mi le navni", magenta light falls on my face from the neon.
It's quite inevitable that "lo gusni" is by far the best
sumti that can fill the x1 place of "gusni"; that is a general rule! Other things do an alright job though, like "lo se dirce" or "lo xunre" or "lo cinri". Don't underestimate the inverse use of a gismu place, either, where it can be used to bring its meaning into a sumti-- some gismu are used that way more often than as a primary selbri.
