[lojban-beginners] vlatai and logflash

I'm still trying to make sense of valtai and jbofihe, and I'd 
appreciate some help here.

References to both of these appear on the Wiki on the 
pages most likely to be used by beginners.  This is not 
where we want to discourage them from going further!

1) The reference to jbofihe (which includes valatai) is on:

'jbofihe' is linked to an address which allows you to download 
jbofihe-snap_20030418.tar.tar which supposedly includes vlatai. 
How do I unpack it to get at vlatai? Certainly, WinZip doesn't do it.

2) The reference to logflash is on:

http://www.lojban.org/tiki/Learning

Once again, we get a downloadable package.  No problem in unpacking 
it, but the program itself is, to say the least, mysterious.  MS-DOS?????
I realize, the program may be very useful, but some every-day-language 
description of what it is and how it works is needed.  Is there such a 
description anywhere?  logflash.doc hardly does it!
