If I'm understanding the sound that you're talking about correctly maybe {ju'i} since in my experience the "asterisk" sound is usually used to call attention to the user that their attention is needed.

This sound is played once the user's entered their login details, so
"fi'i" it is.

It seems to be played whenever a dialogue pop-up appears, such as with
the 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons.


As for the rest - thank you kindly. I think it's safe to say that my
computer is currently unique on the planet. :)  Once that last sound
is figured out, I'll place the whole set of .WAVs online, for anyone
else who might be interested.
