If it's used as the foreign part of a type-3 fu'ivla, what matters is only
that it follows the phonotactic rules and doesn't contain 'y' and that the
correct interfix is used. The foreign part can look like a gismu, a slinku'i, a
lujvo, or a tosmabru. But if someone wanted to use "semla" by itself as a
Lojban word for a particular kind of pastry, that is quite another matter. A
particular kind of pastry, eaten in Northern Europe at a particular time of
year, does not deserve a gismu.
