Coi ro do,
Here I will attempt to translate an inscription made by the Persian king Darius in his palace at Persepolis.
Lojban translation:
tu'e.
la daraiavauc*. nolraitru banli. nolraitru le nolraitru ku. nolraitru le gugde ku. bersa la victaspahas*. ce 'axamanic**. pu zbasu ti nolzda.
tu'u
*I have used the original Old Persian names here, which are Dārayavauš, Vištāspaha, and Haxāmaniš, respectively.
**In this case, I will make this a fu'ivla. If I wanted to refer to just Achaemenes himself, I would say "la 'axamanic." to make it a cmene, correct? Also, I am having a feeling that words in Lojban cannot start with /h/, and if this is indeed the case, would I want to add a schwa at the beginning?
English translation of original Old Persian:
Darius, great king, king of kings, king of countries, Hystaspes' son, an Achaemenid, who built this palace.
Mu'o mi'e cariar.jermanis.
