Oh wait, now I get it...  hmmm.

I know this is skips over the scope of what you're asking, but if I told the computer to "add 2+2 twelve times", I would expect it to know that I want feedback on the results of doing that.  I wouldn't expect to have to tell it explicitly that I want the results on the screen - maybe there would be a setting in my program where I can indicate my preference to have responses printed on the screen (as opposed to having them spoken, or whatever).  I think this is called thread-jacking though, so I'm going to shut up and go to bed now :-)
