"mi ba citka lo plise" is a statement about the future, It describes a
relationship between you and the apple that will take place in the
future. "mi [ca] pu'o citka lo plise" is a statement about the
present. It describes the present relationship that exists between you
and the apple.
In particular, "mi ba citka lo plise" is false if you don't eat the
apple in the future, whereas "mi pu'o citka lo plise" may still be
true if you are about to eat it but for whatever reason you end up not
eating it.

"ba", "ca" and "pu" are tenses, they tell you when some relationship
takes place. "pu'o", "ca'o" and "ba'o" are aspects, they tell you
which part of an event you are describing: the setup, the thick of it,
or its aftermath.
