If you have spaces between words, the places to put the stops are easy
to determine, so people sometimes leave them out.

Ouch.  Most of our introductory stuff should have pronounciation guides
early on; can you point to something in particular?

Can't help you there, sorry.  There's an emacs-based flashcard program.
I myself use SuperMemo for PalmOS.

Me too, but my school didn't start a degree in it until after I left.
