Yes, dacti is any material object. If you want to restrict it
to non-persons, you might say {lo nalpre dacti}.

Also, {lo prenu cu zvati le kumfa} could mean "there are people
in the room". If the number is important you have to specify it:
{pa prenu cu zvati le kumfa} = "there is exactly one person
in the room".
