Foo is a placeholder here, so did I get it right: In case the real name 
I put in there end with a consonant, {cu} becomes optional. If the name 
ends with a vowel, I need to put {cu} in?

Not entirely wrong ...

I was trying to translate this idea into Lojban:

Foo is a platform for business on the Internet.

I think the ambiguity which is there in English, as you can read

Foo is a platform for business / on the Internet.
(The platform is located on the Internet.)

as well as

Foo is a platform / for business on the Internet.
(The platform is *about* doing business on the Internet. This might very 
well be a phyiscal gathering such as a trade show.)

is avoided in Lojban through the place structure, isn't it?

So it's clear what the platform (stage is not a bad metapher for what 
this should become actually) is meant for and where it is, right?

All I would maybe debate is if you have picked very narrow translations 
or if the Lojban words have such a narrow meaning, i.e.

You translated {canja} by trader. The vocabulary for {canja} says:

x1 exchanges/trades/barters commodity x2 for x3 with x4; x1, x4 is a 
trader/merchant/businessman

The terms trader/merchant/businessman suggests the broad concept of 
someone making money to me and would for example include consulting work 
as you trade knowledge for money. Or am I interpreting something that's 
not mean here?

Also looking at {tsina}, it says:

x1 is a stage/platform/dais/[scaffold] at/in x2 supporting x3, made of 
material x4

You used "raised from" rather than "made up of". I am not sure (I am not 
a native english speaker) but I know "raised from" in a context such as 
"the kids were raised on good food". Can x4 of {tsina} be someting 
immaterial, as in "the novel is made up of good thoughts"?

Please understand I am not critisizing your translation attempt; I just 
try to understand if I manage to get the idea across in Lojban or 
weather I should use a different wording.
