[lojban-beginners] Re: Off-topic: Translation help wanted

Can't help you, but this reminds me of something I was thinking of doing earlier which is to collect together a group of texts to act as a source for translations. The purpose would be two fold, besides my own amusement/frustration that is. The first would be to have a set of practice texts which are pre-rated for difficulty. The second would be to act as a measure of the ability of a language to express a wide range of ideas as we all tend to be limited/influenced by our own sphere of interests. I've noticed this mostly from looking at the texts be offered up for translation when I was wandering around the conglang sites, such as, the in ability of klingon to express every use: However, its vocabulary, heavily centered around Star Trek or 'Klingon' concepts such as "spacecraft" or "warfare", makes it impractical for everyday use [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klingon_language].

Anyone out there who already knowns of such a site or wishes to steal this idea - go for it - please let me know so I may submit texts.

This isn't about Lojban as such, but I know many of you
here are N-lingual (for some N>1).

I have a piece of text (about 250 words) that I want to
translate into as many languages as I can.

I can't pay you, but if/when it is published on the web, I
can credit you as translator.

Also want people who can double-check the translator's work.
Disputes will be settled by a mud-wrestling match. ;)

If you're interested, email me offlist.

Thanks,
