[lojban-beginners] Re: vono sementu etc
Michael corrects my errors in parsing the first sentence of his
Berenstein Bears story:
Re my puzzlement about {guzmrkukurbita} for pumpkin he says
I was modeling it on their derivation of the fu’ivla for “maple”
which was also from the binomial name (see the LLG, Chapter 4, ex.
7.4 and the subsequent paragraph).
It’s a stage 3 fu’ivla (foreign borrowing), which like other non-
cmene end with a vowel, but are distinguishable by their CCVC or
CVCC beginning glued on with an r (or n if r is impossible, or l
if both r and n are impossible), rather than a “y” which would
signify a compound brivla.
I totally misread {loi drata mivmu'e} (doh!),
“drata mivmu’e” is a tanru (they are simple brivla, with no cmavo
between them). It’s “different (or other) type of nature (this
lujvo, as many others I’ve used, are found in norlujv (the
“current” lujvo list on the wordlists page)
And I was correct in that Papa Bear's use of go'o does refer to his
own next utterance -- had I continued to the next sentence I would
have seen that. Personally I don't think go'o is the kind of thing
that would appear in conversation, as opposed to an essay, but it
wasn't wrong & I misread it through haste.
