[lojban-beginners] A0: the first words
Hello everyone,
I have listed some 150 words and expressions that
I think are important to learn for a beginner. May
it be Lojban or any other language.
This list would correspond to the A0 level I mentioned
in an earlier message.
I think most people (and especially young kids
learning their mother tongue) start by learning
isolated words and short expressions they hear.
And I believe this is an efficient way of learning
a language. You don't need no grammar for that!
Of course this list is somewhat personal and
reflects my own cultural background. I've tried though
to be as general as possible. I've also tried to pick
stand-alone-words that could be meaningful/useful in
a conversation. Words like "hello" and "thanks" for
example.
The idea is to produce such an A0 list in several
languages. I've started with English, German, French
(the languages I know pretty well) and Lojban. The
translation (especially the one towards Lojban) is
not yet finished. I may need one more week to complete
it.
Have a look at the preliminary list enclosed if you
like and give me your comments/remarks. I would also
appreciate some help with the Lojban column...
Regards, Martin
