I'm not sure what you mean by that.

The unnamed reporter's looks & mannerisms are respectively "identical with" & "similar to" that of the character named Borat. And both the original and my translation completely rely on the context for that reference. My concern is: Is it enough clear & Lojbanic if I use {dunli} and {simsa} without indicating what they are associating the following words with. {dunli simlu} - the looks are identical with what? {simsa tecyseltra} - the mannerisms are similar to what? We may figure it out by the context, but the phrase by itself does not really say anything about what it is referring to. I don't know, what do you think?

So, one way to say "the early-mid 1990s" might be {le me lirymidju be li 1990 dekna'a}?

{to'i}, the editorial unquote? Why unquoting from the beginning?
