yes, thanks, I meant ze'u not ze.  So then how would you say "I paused during a long swim"?  Would that be {mi de'a ze'u limna}?

"zu" does not mean "for a long time", it means "a long time
ago/hence/earlier/later".

"ze'u" is "for a long time".

"(pu) zu de'a limna": I stopped swimming long ago.
"(ba) zu de'a limna": I will stop swimming a long time from now.

I would take "mi ze'u de'a limna" to mean that I am taking a long pause.
