Related question: if you're Lojbanizing words in languages where the same spelling leads to different pronunciations in different regions, which pronunciation should you base it off of? For example, the soft "c" in Spanish has rather different pronunciations in Spain and Latin America, with Spain using a sound similar to a soft "th" and Latin America using a sound more like English's soft c (this is from my HS Spanish classes; the actual situation is probably more complicated than this). Which is preferred? In tijlan's example, if you chose the Spanish (that is, European) pronunciation you could distinguish between words with a z and a c; is that a good thing? etc.
