Grammatically, a word in the selma'o (cmavo grammatical class) DOI or
COI will consume a sumti after it, unless terminated by {do'u}. That's
what's meant by "eats"; I'm not sure if there's a Lojban word for it.
When I was learning, I found it very helpful to put my sentences through
a parser to be sure that they parse the way I intended, for example
https://lojban.github.io/ilmentufa/camxes-exp.html
The relevant part of CLL appears to be
https://lojban.github.io/cll/6/11/.

More correct would probably be
{pe'u do ko dragau mi}
or
{pe'u do'u ko dragau mi}
But as you can see these are somewhat clunky, which is why people might
prefer to use {e'o}. Attitudinals (in selma'o UI) are basically
invisible to the grammar and essentially attach to the nearest
grammatical structure (to give a slightly imprecise definition that
should be good enough for now).

There are two ways to use pronouns in Lojban. One uses the dedicated
pronoun sequence {ko'a}, {ko'e}, ..., {ri}, {ra}, etc with {goi}, or
use the fact that a letteral refers to the last sumti starting with that
letter. Thus:
{la plipe goi ko'a citka lo srasu ki'u lo ka ko'a pipyjalra}
or
{la plipe cu citka lo srasu ki'u lo ka py pipyjalra}
(Note I've also altered other parts of that sentence to make it more
correct/idiomatic)
Hopefully that makes more sense now!
Thanks,
Josh
