Notes:

My Lojban poem, titled "le nu spaji gunta ca le nicte",
is actualy a free translation of a poem "The plain of Ceren".
(Of course, the title itself is my translation to English.
It is "celenpyeong'weon" in Korean.)

It is really a free translation. For example, I left out
all refrains. And added many words, substracted many words,
to fit in the meter of ten syllables per line. (Is this
meter looks good? Korean language solely rely on the number of
syllables for the meter, therefore I have no experience of other
systems. So I chose this one.)

This poem is from a Korean fantasy novel, which I love very
much, titled "White River of Ronyaf". (Note that words like
"Ceren", "Ronyaf", etc. is all my transliteration, and actually
there was a fierce argument regarding how to spell the name
of the river in alphabet. It seems even the author himself
hesitates between "Ronyaf" and "Ronyarf".)

Some backgrounds: the main character of Novel is named "Aazen",
a female bard. She meets a knight named "Quitrin" and they fall
in love. (Yes, it is a romance.) As a bard, Aazen knows many
folk songs and earns her life by singing them.

The song, "The plain of Ceren", is quite famous at the time,
thanks to its popular lyric and merry melody. It describes
the most important battle in the first war between Inabanyu
and Xil, fought in (surprise, surprise) the plain of Ceren,
about 200 years ago.

The name "Ceren" actually means "of blood" in the language
of Inabanyu, or the author says so. Internal justification is
that the plain is at the border of three countries, a perfect
place for battlefields, and actually many harsh battles were
fought there. And the author implies the relation to an
indigenous plant of crimson color.

The reason behind special popularity of this song among
commoners is that it describes the battle in the perspective
of soldiers, whom they can sympathise with. Such song is rare:
other songs describe them in the perspective of knights and noble
people. For example, they sing of how Cupendarken, the chief
commander of knights, triumphed to the capital and married the
princess.

The liquor called "letraxu" I expressed with fu'ivla. Wives
(or lovers) used to brew it from goat's milk and serve it to
returned soldiers.
